SuperTrail du Barlatay: the route
In mid-August the SuperTrail du Barlatay starts from L'Étivaz, the Pays-d'Enhaut village known for its alpine cheese, for loops between the Pays-d'Enhaut and the Ormonts. The 75 km (about 4,500 m of climbing) sets off in the middle of the night and links several mountain lakes, including the Arnensee, Lac de Retaud, Lac Lioson and Lac de l'Hongrin, across pastures, ridges and passes of the Vaud Prealps. The 50 km (about 2,900 m) starts before dawn and is also a loop around L'Étivaz. The race route relief map shows the rugged Prealps with their narrow valleys and tucked-away lakes, and your line forms a neat closed loop. A finisher keepsake for anyone who watched the sun come up over the Vaud ridges, or a gift for trail runners who made it back to L'Étivaz. The base carries the name, finishing time and date.
