Trail des Dents-du-Midi: the route
In September the Trail des Dents-du-Midi circles a landmark massif of the Valais, high above the Val d'Illiez and the Rhône valley. The 57K, the long-standing original race, is a full loop starting and finishing in Champéry: via Vérossaz, the village of Mex and the Col du Jorat to the Salanfe lake and dam, up to the Col de Susanfe at nearly 2,500 m, then down the Susanfe valley and the Pas d'Encel back to Champéry. The 32K starts in Vérossaz and follows the second half of that loop, via Salanfe and Susanfe. On the race route relief map, the seven summits of the Dents-du-Midi rise in the centre and your line wraps around them, which makes this one of the clearest routes to read in relief. For anyone who has seen these peaks from every side in a single day, it is a natural finisher keepsake and a gift for trail runners that needs no explanation. The base is engraved with the name, finishing time and date.
The relief comes from swisstopo elevation data, accurate to the metre; the race line is drawn on top. 12 × 12 or 18 × 18 cm, made to order in 7 working days, free delivery in Switzerland.
