The 31 km and 2,200 m of climbing of Sierre-Zinal as a relief, from Sierre in the Rhône valley to the finish in Zinal.
The Sierre-Zinal course leaves Sierre on the Rhône valley floor and heads straight into the steep switchbacks up towards Chandolin. The relief shows that opening wall clearly, followed by the long balcony trail via Tignousa, the Hôtel Weisshorn and Nava, high above the Val d’Anniviers. From there you can trace the traverse to Barneuza and the final descent into Zinal, beneath the ring of 4,000 m peaks at the head of the valley. Run every August, it is a mountain race where most of the climbing comes in the first third.
The relief comes from swisstopo elevation data, accurate to the metre; the race line is drawn on top.
